Clean Eating Crockpot Italian Turkey Meatballs

I love anything I can throw in the crockpot but I absolutely refuse to use cream of whatever or some of the other crap you find in crockpot recipes that are out there.

This is my go to recipe for italian meatballs. I've served it for Christmas Eve two years in a row. I love that I can throw it together while managing the house, working from home, and taking care of my newborn...its that simple and tastes like I spent the day slaving over the stove.

Ingredients:
1 lb ground turkey (you can sub beef or whatever meat you like)
1 egg
1/4 cup of milk (you can sub water)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs (ezekiel, whole wheat, whatever you like)
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tbsp dried parsley
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
1/4 c. grated parmesan cheese

Sauce:
1 jar your favorite marinara
1 can crushed tomatoes
1 tbsp minced garlic
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp italian seasoning blend
fresh basil

Directions:
Mix all ingredients together by hand
Make golf ball sized meatballs (I use a small ice cream scoop which gives me approx. 16 meatballs)
Place meatballs on baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes (I find this keeps them from getting mushy)
Add meatballs to crockpot, cover with sauce
Cook on low for 4 hours

Serve over your favorite pasta (I like Ronzoni quinoa spaghetti)
